Kim Si-woo, ranked 6th in the PGA JoJo Championship, rose to 52nd place
Byung-Hoon An (32), who lifted the championship trophy for the first time in nine years, ranked 27th in the world of men’s golf.
Byung-Hoon An ranked 27th in the men’s golf world rankings released on the 28th (Korean time), up 9 places from 36th last week.
As a result, Byung-Hoon An entered the top 30 again in about 4 months since last June (27th).
Byung-Hoon An’s ranking rose thanks to his victory at the Genesis Championship, jointly organized by the Korea Professional Golf (KPGA) Tour and DP World Tour.
Byeong-Hoon An beat Joo-Hyung Kim (22) to the top after an overtime match in the final 4th round of the tournament that ended at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea (par 72) in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon on the 27th.
With this, Byung-Hoon An achieved his second win in nine years after winning the 2015 DP World Tour BMW Championship.
Also, since the tournament is co-hosted by the KPGA Tour, he recorded his second win in total at the KPGA. Byung-Hoon An achieved his first win on the KPGA Tour at the 2015 Shinhan Donghae Open.
Ahn Byeong-hun, who won the championship after a long time, was happy with his victory along with his father Ahn Jae-hyung and mother Zhao Zhimin who came to the stadium to cheer him on.
An Byeong-hun is the only son of Ahn Jae-hyung and Zhao Zhimin, star players who represented Korean and Chinese table tennis. The two participated side by side at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where Ahn Jae-hyung won a bronze medal in men’s doubles and Zhao Zhimin won a silver medal in women’s doubles and a bronze medal in singles.
His mother, Zhao Zhimin, who knew better than anyone else the lonely struggle of her son in the world of competition, hugged An Byeong-hun and cried together the moment his win was confirmed.
Among Korean players, Lim Seong-jae (26) boasted the highest ranking at 22nd. Kim Joo-hyung, who finished second in the Genesis Championship due to a loss of concentration at the last minute, maintained 25th place.
Kim Si-woo (29), who tied for 6th place at the PGA Tour JoJo Championship, was ranked 52nd, up 3 places from 55th place.
The world’s top ranking remains unchanged. Scotty Scheffler (USA) maintained first place, followed by Xander Scheffler (USA), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Colin Morikawa (USA), and Ludwig Arbery (Sweden).
