The municipality of Riga plans to introduce the so-called snow tickets today, April 23. On this day, drivers will be able to use the city’s public transport – buses, trolleybuses and trams – for free, Riga City Council representatives report.
As the air temperature drops, ice will form on the roads, the thickness of the snow cover could increase up to ten centimeters, and visibility will deteriorate, so driving conditions may be difficult on the streets of the capital. All municipal services and available equipment will be involved in the maintenance of streets and sidewalks, however, in order to facilitate street cleaning and reduce possible traffic jams, residents are invited to use public transport as much as possible.
