Countries including the United States and Australia have already stated that they will diplomatically boycott the Beijing Olympics due to human rights violations.

Beijing:

The Winter Olympics begin today in the Chinese capital, Beijing. It is scheduled to take place until the 24th.

Athletes from 91 countries, including China, Australia, Brazil, USA, Norway, England, Germany, Japan and India, are participating.

Arif Khan, a skipper from Jammu and Kashmir, is the only Indian to qualify.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games kicks off in Beijing this evening at 5.30pm Indian time. The competition is being launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In 2020, there was a clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Kalwan Valley. China offered Chinese Commander Qiu Baba the opportunity to carry the Winter Olympic torch in a series. India is deeply dissatisfied with China’s action.

In this context, India has decided to boycott the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

In this regard, Union Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Baxi said Indian embassy officials in Beijing would not attend the opening and closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics.
