Christmas doesn’t always satisfy everyone, but those who are most disappointed will be able to make up for it during the winter sales. These will begin on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at 8 a.m. across most of French territory. The promotional period will last four weeks, ending on Tuesday, February 6. This window concerns “physical” stores as well as online sales and e-commerce sites.
However, certain regions will be entitled to a more advanced start. In Lorraine, consumers will be able to rush into stores from Tuesday January 2. Residents of Meurthe-et-Moselle (54), Meuse (55), Moselle (57) and Vosges (88) will thus be entitled to four weeks of sales, but eight days in advance. The period will end on January 29. A way to resist competition from bordering Belgium and Luxembourg, where promotions appear on the shelves from the start of the year.
Special calendar for Overseas
Overseas, the calendar is also different for certain departments or communities. If in Guyana and Martinique, the dates are equivalent to those of mainland France, Guadeloupe will open the sales period from Saturday January 6, while the date has been set for Wednesday January 17 for Saint-Pierre and Miquelon .
In Reunion, winter promotions will be held after summer ones. These will take place on February 3, due to the reversal of the seasons in the southern hemisphere. Finally, on the islands of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, the winter sales will begin on Saturday May 4.
