The capital’s leader said that the deployment of elements is aimed at dismantling criminal gangs, inhibit vehicle theft and identify drug trafficking areas, in which uniformed officers from the National Guard, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Secretariat of National Defense, the Secretariat of the Navy and the Secretariat of Citizen security (SSC) capital.
For these tasks, there will also be 212 vehicles, 46 horses, 7 four-wheelers, 3 armored vehicles, 2 motorcycles, a Condor helicopter and 2 pairs of trucks distributed in 15 neighborhoods of Coyoacán and 13 of Tlalpan.
He stressed that residents of these districts will be able to approach the officers to ask for protection in case they are victims of a crime or to give them information about a criminal act.
“We started these operations about a year ago. We have visited 13 municipalities and this time we will make it 14,” he recalled.
Batres said that thanks to the implementation of these operations and the Security Strategy, in the last year the perception of insecurity in the 16 municipalities decreased by 8.1 percentage points, according to the National Survey of Urban Public Security (ENSU), of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
“If the perception of insecurity had already decreased during the first years of the six-year term, in the last year the perception of insecurity decreased even more,” he stressed.
The head of the SSC, Pablo Vázquez, said that the agency will reinforce the police presence with 550 officers, supported by 81 units, 46 motorcycles, 7 ATVs and 3 armored vehicles, adding to the more than 2 thousand officers of the Police who already work in these areas.
The boss of the Police indicated that in Coyoacan, the presence of the elements will extend to colonies such as Santo Domingo, La Magdalena, Paseos de Taxqueña, San Francisco Culhuacan, Carmen Serdan, Ajusco, Santa Ursula, Old Ejido of Santa Ursula, Spartacus, Gardens of the Pedregal, Tetlameya, Panamericana, Sunflowers, CTM Culhuacan and Insurgentes Cuicuilco.
Meanwhile in Tlalpan, They will reinforce surveillance in the Vergel Coapa neighborhood, the former Hacienda de Coapa, Prado Coapa Second Section, Belisario Dominguez, Granjas Coapa, Miramontes Residential Area, Isidro Fabela, Peña Pobre, Pueblo Quieto, Puente de Piedra Quarry, Toriello Guerra and Jardines del Pedregal.
Vázquez pointed out that security is a shared task, and therefore invited residents of these districts to report any suspicious activity and maintain open communication with the authorities.
