As every year, Xiaomi announced at the beginning of the month an update of its Note devices, and this year these are the Redmi Note 12 models. The company presented no less than four models at a wide range of prices, with a host of upgrades designed to compete in the popular mid-market segment.
The most prestigious model in the series is the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, which incorporates a camera with a Samsung ISOCELL HPX sensor with a 200-megapixel resolution, which should take high-quality photos even in extremely difficult lighting conditions, also with the help of an optical image stabilizer and with 16-b pixel unification technology -1. Next to it there is a wide-angle camera with an 8-megapixel sensor, and a macro camera. The selfie camera that is in the hole in the front has a resolution of 16 megapixels.
Inside the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G runs the Dimensity 1080 5G processor from Media-Tech (Medatek) and the screen is 6.67 inches in size with an OLED panel that supports FHD+ resolution at a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. This is a fairly high-quality screen that supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision, being able to display 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The fast charger provides up to 120 watts of charging power with HyperCharge technology. It is able to charge the battery, which has a capacity of 5,000 mAh, in only about 20 minutes.
The Redmi Note 12+ 5G model, on the other hand, is intended for those who want to save a little. It is equipped with the same processor as the Pro, as well as the exact same screen. The main difference is in the main camera: the 200 megapixel sensor is replaced by a 50 megapixel sensor with a Sony IMX766 sensor. The fast charging is also slower, and it offers a power of 67 watts, which is still relatively fast even for the flagship devices these days. In both models the fast charger is already included in the kit.
In addition, they support Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity with WiFi 6, there are also stereophonic speakers that support Dolby Atmos, NFC communication, dual SIM, and Android 12 with the MIUI 14 interface.
The other two models in the series are cheaper: Redmi Note 12 5G and Redmi Note 12. They are also equipped with a 6.67-inch screen with FHD+ resolution, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, but LCD. There is also a brightness of 1,200 nits and a protective coating in the form of Gorilla Glass 3. The processor is a Snapdragon 685 that supports only 4G in the standard model or Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 for the 5G model. They come with up to 8/256 gigabytes of memory and the option of expanding up to 1 terabyte, when you can virtually expand the working memory by an additional 5 gigabytes.
The front camera is below the hole and is equipped with a 13-megapixel sensor, while the back has three cameras with sensors of 50 + 8 + 2 megapixels. In the 4G model, the camera is 48 megapixels. The battery has a working volume of 5,000 mAh and charging at a maximum power of 33 watts. They are based on the Android 12 system with Xiaomi’s customized MIUI interface and also have dual SIM support, a 3.5 mm headphone connection and in some models also NFC.

Apart from these, Xiaomi has also globally launched the Redmi Watch 3. This is a new model whose screen is square but of better quality, and is 1.75 inches AMOLED type with HD resolution and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The company says that it is 15% larger than its predecessor, which it offers with a maximum brightness of 600 nits. It is also waterproof and suitable for use even in swimming up to a depth of 50 meters thanks to the 5ATM standard.
The Redmi Watch 3 comes with several sensors such as a heart rate monitor, blood oxygen saturation meter (SpO2), mental pressure monitoring, sleep, breathing training, and for women – cycle monitoring. In total, it offers 121 different types of training that you can choose from. It also has SOS emergency dialing, a built-in GPS receiver. The battery has a capacity of 289 mAh and should last for up to 12 days of use.
