With food, live music and dancing, the Mexico City Government joined in the celebration of National Day of Older Adults with the event “Dancing for a Life with Well-being”.

López Hernández indicated that for their care, health services are offered in the 16 municipalities with geriatricians, gerontologists and field personnel, through the Institute for Dignified Aging, as well as the Social Attorney’s Office, which serves around 40 percent of the population in the capital.

The boss of Government, Martí Batres, He congratulated all the senior citizens on their day and highlighted the delivery of programs such as the Pension for Older Adults as part of the State’s commitment to this sector.

“That pension that began to be delivered in 2001 benefited 400 thousand people and now the pension benefits, just here in the City, to 1.27 million people,” said Batres.

In this regard, he expressed his desire for legislators to approve the president’s pension reform. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, so that older adults, upon retirement, continue to receive the salary they received as workers.

“This has already been approved by the Commission and we hope that it will be approved by the Congress of the Union in September. It is a very important reform in favor of senior citizens,” he said.
