With a beautiful closing ceremony and the presentation of certificates of attendance, the summer programs of the Greek Language and Culture Teaching Center (KE.D.E.G.PO.) of DI.K.E.P.P.E.E. “Stavros Niarchos” of the University of Ioannina.

The event took place in the outdoor theater of D.I.K.E.P.E.P.E. “Stavros Niarchos” and she was honored with their presence by the vice-chancellor of International Relations, Outreach and Lifelong Learning and president of KEDEGPO, professor Xenophon Bitsikas, the vice-mayor of Education, Lifelong Learning, Sports, Immigration of Politics, Youth and Volunteerism Stefanos Sintos, the treasurer of the World Council of Continentals Abroad Ilias Galanos, the president of the Pan-Continental Federation of America Ioannis Katsimbaris, the member of the World Council of Continentals Abroad Spyros Ziogas and the president of the Hellenic Federation of Georgia Eugenia Kotanidis.

At the start of the event, the head of D.I.K.E.P.E.P.E. “Stavros Niarchos” Vasiliki Panteli addressed the greeting and welcomed the guests. The leading role in the event was played by the students of the three summer programs that were implemented during the month of July: the Summer Program of Greek Language and Culture for expatriate Epirotians and expatriate Greeks abroad, the Greek Language Learning Program for Expatriates from Georgia and the Summer Program of Learning the Greek Language and Culture as a foreign/second language. The male and female students talked about the importance of the Greek language, there was a reading of fragments from the “Postscript” collection by M. Anagnostakis and a tribute to Odysseus Elytis. The event was beautified by the songs performed by the students themselves, and the traditional dances they performed with their teacher Vasilios Raptis.

For the implementation of the closing ceremony, the teaching staff of KE.D.E.G.PO collaborated. Theodora Zampaki, Anastasia Giannikou, Emil Theodoropoulos, Konstantina Giakalara and Athena Vourvou, as well as the administrative staff Eleftheria Kontou, Anastasia Giannikou, Anna Douvalis and Evangelia Apostolou.

It was a particularly moving event, during which the students expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the courses and the parallel activities, but also their regret that the summer programs came to an end. Finally, they expressed their desire to return to Ioannina in July 2025 and continue their “journey” in the Greek language and Greek culture.
