CriptoFácil – The Brazilian Stock Exchange, B3 (BVMF:), is preparing to launch a (BTC) investment product after launching its digital asset exchange, B3 Digitas. According to an exclusive report by Cointelegraph, B3 has a long-term strategy with cryptocurrencies and intends to launch a Bitcoin Futures product in September.

Jochen Mielke de Lima, CEO of B3 Digitas, said in an interview with Cointelegraph that B3 is considering launching a BTC futures product since 2017. He also reported that the regulator is analyzing the market availability of the Cryptocurrency Futures Contract. But B3’s idea is that the product arrives in about three months:

“B3’s announcement of the launch of the product will be carried out at least one month in advance so that the market can prepare itself. The delivery forecast is for the 3rd quarter of 2023”, he concluded.

Exchange da B3

Lima also commented in the interview about the B3 exchange. He highlighted that the platform is focused on the Software as a Service (SaaS) market and on institutions that want to expose themselves to the crypto market.

As Lima said, the objective of B3’s crypto platform is to build infrastructure and institutional solutions for the tokenized economy, which uses blockchain to “digitize” assets in the physical world.

The executive pointed out that it is part of B3’s strategic planning to provide services for digital asset projects by financial institutions and fintechs that want to invest in the segment and make this offer available to its customers. These clients can be, for example, brokerage houses, payment institutions, investment funds, family offices and wealth managers.

“The intention is not to open a cryptocurrency exchange to compete with retail investors,” he clarified.

As Mielke pointed out, the B3 crypto platform currently offers around 20 cryptocurrencies. The list includes Bitcoin (BTC), (), (USDT) and (LTC). However, B3 Digitas may list new assets soon.

It is worth mentioning that it is not the Exchange that is responsible for the custody of clients’ crypto assets. The exchange has a partnership with qualified custodians for this purpose.
