Emiliano Martínez’s Aston Villa broke the streak. They were two defeats in a row that hit, especially the first, because it meant elimination against Chelsea 3-1 in the FA Cup. But the good one came for the Villains, that victory that allowed them to regain confidence: It was 2-1 against Fulham on matchday 25 of the Premier League.
And the triumph once again had Dibu as one of the figures. Because it could have been a 2-2 draw for Fulham had it not been for the Argentine. And it’s curious, because the Whites’ first goal came, in part, because of a mistake on his part. He had his revenge. And at what time: The clock showed 90′ and the goalkeeper blocked a tremendous one-on-one from Adama Traoré.
A climate that was repeated on up to three occasions in this match: when Aston Villa had the worst time, something happened. On the first two occasions they were goals, and on the last one, of course, the save by Dibu.
This is how, in fact, the game began. Aston Villa came out asleep to play, with a more emboldened and sharp Fulham. The Villains did not have a good time in the first minutes, and even conceded a goal that was disallowed for offside. But those from Draw found a way out of that situation, because they took advantage of a very serious mistake by Fulham: a side in a dangerous area of his own area that was taken advantage of by Ollie Watkins to make it 1-0.

Aston Villa’s punishment to Fulham for the mistake and, then, of course, an injection of energy to go in search of more. Even so, The Villains continued in that line, doing a lot of damage to the Whites with Leon Bailey, who faced the hell in one-on-one situations on the right wing.
In the second half the dynamic was repeated: many arrivals from Fulham and, once again, Aston Villa stopped them with another goal. And again from the hand of Watkins, top figure of the game and top scorer for the Villains this season with 17 goals.
Reconstructive triumph for Aston Villa, which is 4th (Champions League position) in the Premier table with 49 points, eight behind Liverpool, which has 57 points.
