With a smile and a blessing of health to the victims: Ezra Sheinberg was released from prison

This morning (Sunday) Ezra Sheinberg was released from prison after seven and a half years. Sheinberg, who was convicted of rape and sexual offenses, is expected to arrive in the city of Katzrin where he plans to live with his family.

While smiling as he left prison, Sheinberg was asked if he had a message for the victims, and replied: “May they be healthy with God’s help. I have paid my debt.” Regarding compensation for those victims, he said: “They sued in a civil court. They will receive it with God’s help,” he told Ynet.

Sheinberg, who served as an influential community rabbi, pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2018 as part of a plea deal for committing sexual offenses against eight women, and was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison. Sheinberg was convicted in two cases of attempted rape, six offenses of indecent acts in the circumstances, three offenses of causing an indecent act in the circumstances, attempting to commit an indecent act in the circumstances and obstruction of justice.
