On July 25th he arrived at the Metropolitan Gallery The exhibition “The Acoustics of Leonora Carrington: Art, Writing and Feminisms”, as part of the activities of the 50th anniversary of the institution.

It is an exhibition composed of twenty-four sculptures, which, according to the statement, “It is accompanied by lithographs, sketches, drawings, books, letters, postcards, photographs, correspondence and unpublished works in embroidery and papel picado by the surrealist creator.The main aim of the exhibition is to highlight Carrington’s vast creation “by showcasing her forays into working with fabrics and paper, the international reach of her written work and her influence on contemporary activism such as feminism and environmentalism.”

“The Acoustics of Leonora Carrington: Art, Writing and Feminism” arrived at the UAM Gallery thanks to the joint organization of the Leonora Carrington Council through Fermín Llamazares, its president; the support of the heritage of the Familia Carrington-Wiszhe Patricia Leduc Archive and the Haro Poniatowska Archive.

“The letters, postcards, dedications in books and photos allow us to trace the intellectual and emotional networks that the artist established with figures such as Alan Glass, Gloria OrensteinEdward James, Katie Horn, Elena PoniatowskaAlejandra Pizarnik, Octavio PazHomero Aridjis, Alejandro JodorowskyLucero González, Jack Lípchitz, Georgina Colvile, Homero Aridjis, among others,” the statement concluded.

This exhibition will be available from its opening last July 25th until November 22nd of this year at the Gallery of the Autonomous University of Mexico.
