The store will open in Eilat this summer with an investment of about NIS 2 million. Three years ago, in the summer of 2019, the first video game giant’s store opened in Dizengoff Center in Tel Aviv, and it covers an area of ​​150 square meters, and the store that will open in Eilat will be of a similar size. It is estimated that the store will be located in the Big Eilat complex.

Nintendo officially launched operations in Israel about three years ago and since its inception has hosted over half a million visitors, including community meetings, events and activities. At the opening event that took place in June 2019, there was an queue that was estimated to reach about 2,500 fans of the brand.

“In light of the great success of Nintendo Tel Aviv, it was clear to us that we want to expand the nationwide deployment and cause many more smiles in children and parents,” says Ron Kelds, CEO of Tour Gaming. The huge popularity of Nintendo’s content worlds among the Israeli public, so another store in Eilat, which is usually visited to relax and spend time, is a natural and desirable development, which will enrich the entertainment experience for the whole family in the southern city.

Nintendo was founded in Japan in 1889 with the goal of producing game cards, and in the 1970s changed its designation and moved to producing game consoles. In the late ’80s, Nintendo launched the Super Mario Brothers, one of the best-selling games in history. It is the largest and most profitable video game company in the world thanks to characters like Mario, Pokemon, Donkey Kong and Zelda, and consoles like Nintendo Switch and Game Boy Wii.

The brand’s main flagship store opened about 14 years ago in Rockefeller Center in New York, and the store that opened in Tel Aviv was the second official store in the world to bear the brand name. Another store has opened in Tokyo, Japan, and this summer Israel will become the only country in the world to have two official stores of the brand.
