/ The Iraqi national team achieved a hard-fought victory over its Philippine counterpart by one goal to no return in the third round of the sixth group of the double Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup – 2027 Asian Cup.

The match started at ten o’clock this evening, Thursday, at Basra International Stadium.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, with the Iraqi team in complete control, but without the opportunities being translated into goals.

The score remained the same in the second half until the 84th minute, when Muhannad Ali was able to score the goal to advance the Iraqi team.

The referee of the match warned Iraqi national team coach Jesus Casas in the 88th minute for objecting to the arbitration decisions.

The Iraqi national team will meet its Philippine counterpart in the return match on the 26th of this month at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in the Philippine capital, Manila.
