With free attractions, the city of Rio will promote a cultural marathon during the month of March to celebrate the 458th anniversary, this Wednesday (1st). Cariocas and locals still have free entrance, today, in two large spaces located in the central region: MAR (Museum of Art of Rio) and Museum of Tomorrow.

Among the highlights of MAR is the exhibition Clara Nuneswhich was extended and features unpublished photos of the artist’s relationship with the Marvelous City.

At the Museum of Tomorrow, the exhibition Amazon by Sebastião Salgado presents the result of 48 expeditions by the photographer between 2013 and 2019 to record the forest and the active presence of indigenous peoples in the region.

Other events in the North and West zones are part of the special program, such as a party in Vista Alegre, a funk workshop in Penha, a fair in Guadalupe, a guided tour in Maré and a festival in Jacarepaguá. (See below)

Cultural tour “Pelos Acessos”, with young people and teenagers

Where: Cultural Canvas Herbert Vianna – Rua Evanildo Alves, s/n°, Maré

When: Wed. (03/1), at 2 pm. Free. 12 years.

Obs: The activity is a cultural outing promoted by Lona Cultural Herbert Vianna, in partnership with the preparatory course of Redes da Maré, aimed at young people and teenagers and which seeks to tell the story of the city of Rio de Janeiro, from the Maré community. For this purpose, a tour of the favelas of Maré is planned, with young people and teenagers who attend the course.

Festival “Come on, it’s still Carnival!”

Where: Jacob do Bandolim Cultural Canvas – Praça do Barro Vermelho, s/n°, Jacarepaguá

When: Wed (1st / 03), at 2 pm. Free. Free.

Obs: In celebration of the 458th anniversary of Rio de Janeiro, the Lona Jacob do Bandolim follows a Carnival rhythm, in a festive event with feijoada, lots of samba, percussion workshops and the “Bloco da Jacob”, made up of students from the workshops and members of batteries from Special Group schools.

The workshops will be taught by Mestre Pipa, “The Agogô of the famous” (Grande Rio, Império Serrano and Império do Futuro).
