Regarding the joint statement of the South Korea-US-Japan leaders released on the 1st anniversary of the Camp David Summit on the 18th, the People Power Party emphasized, “We will do our best to support the summit so that its outcomes can grow into a ‘deep-rooted tree.’”

Song Young-hoon, the People Power Party’s spokesperson, released a statement on the same day, saying, “Today, the leaders of Korea, the United States, and Japan announced a joint statement to mark the first anniversary of the historic Camp David Summit.”

Spokesperson Song said, “(The leaders of the three countries) reaffirmed the indispensability of Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation, strong trust, and a firm will toward the future.”

He continued, “Last year at Camp David, the leaders of Korea, the United States, and Japan opened a new era of trilateral partnership,” and explained, “Over the past year, they have clearly demonstrated their unwavering commitment to common goals through close consultation and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.”

He said, “This point was made clear in today’s joint statement marking the first anniversary,” and interpreted the expression, “The three countries are prepared to confront the world’s greatest challenges while maintaining solidarity with their common vision and pledging to maintain peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region,” as a declaration of intent to further strengthen their steadfast partnership.

He continued, “We will continue to strengthen the cooperation to achieve North Korea’s denuclearization, jointly respond to missile and cyber threats, and promote human rights in North Korea, which we declared at Camp David a year ago.” He added, “The first-ever multi-domain military exercise, ‘Freedom Edge,’ as well as our response to North Korea’s attempts to secure funds for its weapons of mass destruction programs through illegal means, such as cybercrime, are also results of the strong trilateral cooperation among South Korea, the U.S., and Japan.”

He also said, “The ruling People Power Party, which prioritizes national security and the safety of the people, will focus on expanding our society’s understanding of the triangular cooperation between South Korea, the United States, and Japan internally and on fostering capabilities to actively respond to the changing international situation externally.”

He added, “Going forward, the People Power Party and the Yoon Seok-yeol government will do their best to support the Camp David Summit so that its achievements can grow into a ‘deep-rooted tree.’”
