An experiential road safety training program, with the aim of promoting a correct driving culture, is organized by the Ioannina Traffic Department, under the auspices of the Region of Epirus and the Directorate of Civil Protection, in collaboration with specialized Institutes.

The educational program will be held until Friday, April 19, at the facilities of P.E.A.K.I. in Limnopoula and is aimed at secondary school students, while it will also be accessible to the general public
This is an initiative of the Ioannina Traffic Department, which aims to cultivate road safety education, not only from a theoretical, but mainly from a practical approach.
The action is carried out under the auspices of the Region of Epirus and its Civil Protection, in collaboration with the Institute of Sustainability and Safety “Matter of Life” and the Institute of Sustainable Mobility and Transport Networks (I.MET.) of the National Center for Research and Technological Development (E .K.E.T.A.).
For the purposes of the program, experiential training tools are used, through which the participants will be able to experience, in conditions of complete safety, the consequences that non-observance of basic road traffic rules can have on their lives. In particular, participants will have the opportunity to test special technical and digital means, such as driving simulators of various types of vehicles (passenger, motorcycle, truck/bus), vehicle overturning, double seat impact, a device with special reaction speed estimation software to correlate the of distraction and road safety, a device with special software to correlate weight and impact speed as well as alcohol, drug and fatigue simulation glasses.
All of the above will be done thanks to the three mobile units of the “Question of Life” Institute and IMET/EKETA, which have equipment that is unique in Greece both in its entirety and in technical characteristics, therefore they are ideal for simultaneously raising awareness among young people in the professions of driver of heavy vehicles and/or construction machinery, for which according to the EU there is a serious lack of human resources.
The educational program will be attended by high school and high school students of Ioannina, while today and Thursday it will be accessible to all citizens from 6 pm to 8 pm.
