Head of the Supreme Security Committee supervising the work of the Ministry of Health, Lutfi Al-Harari, revealed a visit to Istanbul to check on the conditions of oncology patients, whose treatment in Turkish hospitals stopped in mid-April due to the disruption of their financial allocations.

In his statements to Libya, Al-Harari promised to address the problems of patients in the Turkish arena soon.

Regarding the health conditions of patients, the head of the health office at the Libyan Embassy in Ankara, Radwan Saleh, reported the death of one person and the deterioration of the health condition of others, citing the delay in financial allocations for the 105 patients, including 29 children.

Saleh pointed out that the extension period recently announced by the Turkish Medipol Hospital regarding the resumption of treatment for patients is near, as a result of the lack of financial allocations for treatment in the Turkish arena.

The head of the Medical Affairs Unit in the Health Office at the Libyan Embassy in Turkey, Maan Al-Mabrouk, had stated that the Health Office was unaware of the reason for the delay in disbursing the financial deposit despite its referral from the Ministry of Finance to the Central Bank of Libya, as he put it.

Turkish hospitals had informed patients with oncology and incurable conditions – in mid-April – that treatment had been discontinued, amid complaints and demands from the patients’ families and relatives to expedite the provision of financial allocations for treatment.
