In view of the worries about a recession and the still uncertain prospects for inflation and interest rates, investors must be prepared for price setbacks. A correction phase similar to that following the downgrading of the US rating by S&P twelve years ago cannot be ruled out. But the reasons are to be found in the difficult stock market environment and not in the creditworthiness of the world’s largest economy.
