A 1-year-old baby was found by a medical team on Rua Santos Dumont in Xanxerê, in western Santa Catarina. A PM (Military Police) was triggered early on Friday (9) and forwarded the child to the Tutelary Council.
Deputy Albino Souza, holder of the DPCami (Delegation for the Protection of Children, Adolescents, Women and the Elderly), reported that the baby sleeps with the mother, but used to go to the grandparents’ bed during the night. That night, he ended up leaving the house and was unable to return.
“The mother woke up and went to check if he was in the next room, but she couldn’t find him, so she went out desperately looking for him and arrived at the Tutelary Council to ask for help. Upon arriving there, the baby was under the care of counselors”, described Albino.
The boy was located on Rua Santos Dumont, in the Veneza neighborhood, by an employee of a private medical service company who was on his way to an appointment. According to PM (Military Police)who registered the case, the child was not injured, seemed scared and felt cold.
Albino pointed out that the Civil Police did not open a police inquiry to investigate the case, as it did not identify any signs of negligence on the part of those responsible. “The crime of abandonment of the incapable has not been proven, the child did not present injuries or any other situation that configures the crime”, explained the delegate.
