Elad Hochman, CEO of Green Movement, which leads the climate march: “Year by year our power grows and our power increases. This year, four days before the elections and in an unprecedented manner, many thousands came to demand that the parties put the environmental and climate issues at the center of the agenda. This march starts here and ends at the polling station. Our voice is that the elections should be decided, these are the most burning issues. We demand an ambitious climate law out of concern for our security and health. We demand the closure of the polluting industries in Haifa Bay and in Israel as a whole. We demand the cessation of the flow of oil in Ktsa.”

The CEO of the Society for the Protection of Nature, Iris Hahn, said: “I am marching for the preservation of nature, our line of defense, humans, in the face of the climate crisis. We march together to tell our elected officials that a healthy nature is not a luxury, it is essential and critical to our health, existence and future.”

On the eve of the UN climate conference in Egypt, the Israeli public is calling on its leaders to see the climate crisis as an opportunity for regional cooperation in the field of renewable energy and water and to promote climate justice for all residents of the region against the backdrop of common interest. This is our answer to Israel’s economy, to our national security and our energy security. These are the demands Ours, we will not settle for less than that.”

The climate march was held for the first time in Israel in 2015 and since then has grown consistently and impressively. Last year, a record number of participants was broken with more than 10,000 people, and the parade is widely covered in many media outlets all over the world.
