The main ally Rashtriya Prajadantra Party (RPB) has decided to withdraw its support to the Pratham Prasanda-led government of Nepal.

The RPP party has taken this decision after Prime Minister Prasanda extended his support to the opposition candidate in the presidential election.

Nepal Presidential election will be held on March 9. In this, K.P., who is part of the ruling coalition. Sharma Oli’s party candidate Subhash Nembangu and senior leader of the opposition Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Beldale filed their nomination papers on Saturday.

Among them, Pratham Prasanda’s CPN (Maoist Centre) party has extended its support to Ram Chandra Beladale. This has caused confusion in the country’s politics.

In this case, 4 ministers including RPP leader and Deputy Prime Minister Rajendra Lingden resigned from their posts on Saturday protesting against the Prime Minister’s decision.

Following this, a meeting of the party’s central executive committee and members of parliament was held. In it, it was decided to withdraw support to the Prasanda-led government.

A statement issued on behalf of the party stated that ‘considering the immediate political change, it has been decided to withdraw support to the government’.

The RPP has 14 members in the 275-member Nepali Parliament. The party was the 5th largest party in the 7-party ruling coalition.

The term of office of the incumbent Vidya Devi Bhandari, who defected to the CPN-UML party, will end on March 12. In this case, Prime Minister Prasanda has supported Nepal Congress Party candidate Ram Chandra Beladale due to various crises, said KP. Chama Oli said.
