In no more than 20 days we will have the right rationale and concept for collection centers for fruits and vegetables. The development will be published for public discussion. The deputy minister of agriculture said this last night in the parliamentary agricultural committee Alexander Yotsev in response to a question posed by an MP.
Yotsev clarified a few important things about his views on collection centers.
He said they would not be 6, as was suggested more than a year and a half ago by Continuing the Change, but would be multiple.
BGN 15 million have been set aside for their creation, which will not even be enough for the construction and equipment of one center.
The first and most important step is to determine the correct location of the centers in question. This is of great importance, since we are witnesses of built and non-working markets – in Ognyanovo, Sliven and Haskovo, Alexander Yotsev gave an example.
The most valuable thing in the centers will not be the buildings, but the equipment, which is actually the expensive feather in their creation.
When the points of contention are cleared up after public consultation, a far larger budget must be committed to implement the decision to have collection centres.
Alexander Yotsev believes that the centers will serve as a basis for the cooperation of producers and processors, because this is how cooperatives were created in Western countries. According to him, when a cooperative is born, it will ask to buy the built center from the state.
