/ The Veterinary Hospital in Diyala Governorate announced, on Saturday, the production and marketing of nearly 17 million eggs and about 3 million chickens in the governorate during January 2024.
The head of the poultry division at the hospital, Arshad Majeed, told Agency, “Production and marketing in poultry farms in Diyala Governorate during last January reached nearly 17 million eggs, in addition to more than 2.7 million chickens.”
He added that “the produced quantities were marketed to the markets of Diyala and various Iraqi governorates,” noting that “the poultry sector is one of the most important economic and animal sectors in Diyala and has great interest from the veterinary hospital.”
Majeed continued, “If it weren’t for the high cost of feed, we would have witnessed a great development in the poultry sector in Diyala,” indicating that “Diyala needs a government slaughterhouse that contributes to organizing poultry work, controlling prices, and preventing speculation in the markets.”
