Within an hour and a half, law enforcement officers catch 12 dishonest drivers with the help of a drone /

by times news cr

On November 7, with the help of a drone,‌ employees of the Technical Support Management‍ Department of the State Police in ‍Riga recorded four aggressive drivers⁤ who did⁢ not respect the interests of other road ‍users, drove around a column of stationary or slow-moving cars, and ⁤also did not observe the horizontal⁤ marking of the ⁤road – a continuous ⁣line. The mentioned drivers were‌ stopped and brought to administrative responsibility.

It should be noted⁤ that⁣ for aggressive driving, when disturbances‌ are caused to the smooth flow of vehicles or the interests of ‌other vehicle drivers ⁢are ‍ignored (for example, overtaking several vehicles ⁤in a traffic jam or in a column), a fine of between⁣ 70 and 280 ‌euros is applied‍ to the driver. Also, six violation points are provided for this violation.

On the other hand, at‌ the ⁣intersection of A. Deglava and A. Sakharova ⁢streets, the ‍law ⁤enforcement officers recorded eight drivers who violated traffic rules – they did not follow the traffic light signal ⁤and turned left at the ‍intersection when the additional section⁤ was not on⁢ at⁢ the traffic light. ‌These ‌drivers were also stopped‌ and brought to administrative responsibility – for ‍driving in the ⁤relevant direction, if the green arrow signal is not lit ⁣in the ⁢supplementary section of⁣ the traffic light, a fine in the amount of 30 ‌to 55 euros is applied to the ⁢driver of the vehicle, for this violation there‍ are two ⁢violation points.

Also, two of the above-mentioned drivers violated other road⁢ traffic regulations – one driver drove the vehicle ⁣without wearing a seatbelt, while ⁤in the second⁣ case the driver of‍ the vehicle had unpaid ‍fines within ⁢a year,⁢ for which a ban on the ⁢use of rights was accordingly applied. For⁤ all recorded violations, the State Police⁢ initiated ⁣a total of 14 administrative violation proceedings.

In order⁢ not to endanger themselves and the surrounding traffic participants⁢ by making dangerous maneuvers, the State Police ⁤calls on drivers to follow the⁣ road signs and obey the road‌ traffic rules! Also, ‍in order to improve the general driving culture of drivers, the‍ State Police uses drones for ⁣road ⁣traffic control,‍ emphasizing both⁣ the recording of aggressive driving violations and the observance of road signs.

Interview Title: Drones, Traffic Violations, and ⁤Road Safety: A Conversation with‍ Traffic Safety ‍Expert Dr. Anna Grims

Time.news Editor: Welcome, ⁤Dr. Grims! Thank you for joining us today. ⁤Recent news from Riga ‌highlights the use of drones⁣ by the State ⁤Police to⁤ monitor ⁤and ‍enforce⁢ traffic laws. What do you think about this innovative approach to ⁣improving road safety?

Dr. ‌Anna Grims: Thank you for having me! I think the use of drones is ⁣a significant advancement ‌in traffic enforcement. They provide an⁤ aerial perspective that can capture aggressive driving behavior that might remain ‍unnoticed from ground level. This not only enhances enforcement but ⁤also serves as a deterrent to potential violators.

Time.news Editor: That’s a great point! The article⁤ mentions that four aggressive drivers were recorded for behaviors like weaving through traffic and ignoring road markings. How‍ do these‍ behaviors specifically ⁣impact road safety?

Dr. Anna Grims: Aggressive driving is quite dangerous. It disrupts the flow of traffic, creates unpredictable situations for other drivers, and increases the likelihood of accidents. Behaviors like ⁣tailgating, excessive lane changing, and overtaking in unsafe scenarios ⁣can lead to collisions not just ⁢involving the aggressive driver, but also innocent road users.

Time.news Editor: In your opinion, how effective are the fines and violation ‌points applicable to these aggressive⁤ driving behaviors?

Dr.‍ Anna Grims: The fines, which range from 70 to 280 euros, are a reasonable first line of defense. However, ⁣the real impact comes from the accumulation of violation points.⁤ Drivers start to recognize that repeated‌ offenses can lead to severe penalties, including license suspension. This encourages better driving behavior over time.

Time.news‍ Editor: ‌ It’s interesting to‍ note⁣ that recent enforcement efforts also targeted drivers who did not follow traffic signals, specifically at the intersection of A. Deglava and A. Sakharova. How crucial are these rules in maintaining overall road ‌safety?

Dr. Anna Grims: Traffic signals are designed to control the flow of traffic and prevent accidents at⁢ intersections – ‍which are often high-risk areas. Ignoring signals can lead to serious collisions. It’s all about ‍predictability on the roads. When everyone follows the rules, the chances of miscommunication and subsequent accidents decrease significantly.

Time.news Editor: With the integration of technology like drones, do you foresee a⁢ future where road safety can be managed⁤ almost entirely‍ by automated systems?

Dr.‍ Anna Grims: While that’s‍ a possibility, I believe a balance is necessary. ⁤Technology can aid in monitoring ‍and enforcement, but human judgment is still critical. Road safety encompasses more than just enforcing laws; it includes public education and developing⁢ a culture of mutual respect among drivers. As‌ we advance, using technology alongside education and community engagement will be essential.

Time.news Editor: That’s a well-rounded perspective. ⁢As a closing thought, what advice would you offer to⁣ everyday drivers⁢ to ensure they contribute ‍to road safety?

Dr. Anna Grims: My advice is simple: always drive defensively and be aware⁤ of your surroundings. Respect the road⁢ signs ⁤and signals, and never let impatience dictate your actions. We’re all in‍ this together, and maintaining ⁢road safety is a shared responsibility. It’s essential to be courteous⁤ and considerate of ⁢other road users to ensure everyone arrives safely at their destination.

Time.news Editor: Thank you, Dr. Grims, for sharing your insights with us. Your ‍expertise sheds light on the ⁢importance of both technology and responsible driving in creating safer⁢ roads.

Dr. Anna Grims: Thank you for ‌having me! It’s‌ been a pleasure to discuss such an‌ important issue.
