With Daniel Noboa, 60 officials have joined the Presidency payroll, until the end of April. Of them, the majority are under 40 years old.
528 officials work in the Presidency of the Republic, 26 less than in the previous administration. And, of them, 60 have joined the payroll since Daniel Noboa arrived at Carondelet.
Most of the new signings are millennials and almost twenty are centennials. Ecuadorians of these generations are not only the electorate to which the President responds, but also his workforce within the Palace.
That team that came to Government with Noboa is made up mostly of people under 40 years old. And this coincides precisely with the age of the Head of State (37), the political discourse about a new Ecuador, his promises for young people and the way in which he communicates with citizens, mainly through social networks and in the language of TikTok. .
Among the few new officials with vast professional experience are the first Secretary of Communication, Roberto Izurieta, who left office after the popular consultation. And the Undersecretary of Office, Cynthia Gellibert, who accompanied Noboa since the campaign.
At the other extreme are the youngest public servants such as Doménica Suárez, Undersecretary of Contents, who at just 25 years of age already plays an important role in presidential communication.
He was even one of the voices in the controversial profile of the President, carried out by American journalist Jon Lee Anderson. The directors of photography, Isaac Castillo, are of a similar age; of Communication Approach, Erick Cedillo, and of Digital Communication, Michael Medina. None of them has yet registered a university degree with the Secretariat of Higher Education (Senescyt).
Among the young officials is also the director of Presidential Speeches, Freddy Cobos. He is in charge of preparing, supervising and approving the inputs for Noboa’s brief public interventions.
And the Legal Secretary, Mishel Mancheno. PRIMICIAS reviewed Carondelet’s payroll between the end of September, the last full month of Guillermo Lasso’s administration, and the end of April, since the information for May has not yet been made transparent on the Presidency’s website. And, of the 60 officials who arrived at the Palace with Noboa, seven do not have registered university degrees. Among them, the secretaries of Public Administration, Arturo Félix, and of Public Integrity, José Neira.
These are 32 women and 28 men; The majority are lawyers (19) and economists (7). There are 10 people who registered their degrees between 2021 and 2022, which implies that this was their year of graduation from national universities.
And 25 of those officials have only completed a bachelor’s degree or technology. In total, in Carondelet, the 528 officials occupy 275 positions; the majority of them are administrative drivers (47) and service assistants (33). And, for example, there are also five museum guides and a shoemaker.
