TRENTO. The vigilant presence of the Carabinieri of Trento on the city territory, strengthened in this holiday period by further specific services arranged by the Company of Trento, has produced, already on the eve of Ferragosto, the first tangible results.
In fact, in the late afternoon of August 14, the Carabinieri of the Trento Radiomobile Section, during a control activity carried out in via Maccani, came across a subject riding a motorcycle without a helmet. However, at the sight of the soldiers, the man ignored the “Stop” and fled hastily, during which he also tried to ram the military vehicle. The chase, which also took place for a stretch along the “tangenziale”, ended in Ravina where the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile, in collaboration with their colleagues from Mattarello, finally managed to stop him. It was thus discovered, after some investigations, that not only was the subject – a 50-year-old Moroccan citizen, with a criminal record – driving without a helmet, but he was also on board a vehicle stolen this morning in Caldaroto a local resident. The man was thus declared under arrest and taken to the holding cells of the barracks on via Barbacovi, awaiting trial by direct trial which will be held on the morning of August 16.
A little later, around 11pm on the same evening, a Carabinieri patrol made up of soldiers from the nearby stations of Civezzano and Lavis, while carrying out some extraordinary checks arranged in the historic centre of Trento, stopped in Dante squarenear the Regional Palace, a 32 year old Moroccan citizen with a criminal record: after having identified him through the database used by the police force, it emerged that a criminal case was pending against him detention order in execution of the measure of pre-trial detention in prison for having committed, at the beginning of the month, various crimes in the city of Genoafrom which he had evidently then distanced himself in an attempt to cover his tracks: for the man, after the drafting of the procedural documents, the doors of the Trento prison were therefore opened.
Still remaining in Piazza Dante, only a few hours earlier the military personnel of the Trento Operations Section, working together with personnel from the Local Police Dog Unit, had instead identified and a couple of individuals, Tunisian citizens, were reportedas they are caught in the act of to sell some doses of hashish: the same people, following a personal search, were also found in possession of approximately 16 grams of the same narcotic substance, as well as a lot of money in small denomination banknotes, likely proceeds of the drug dealing activity carried out during the day.
In these few days have been identified overall, especially in the “hottest” areas of the city centre, at least 200 peoplemostly burdened by criminal or police records.
