O Real Madrid beat Cádiz this Saturday afternoon without major difficulties, by 2-0, away from home, in a game played at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium. The merengue team dominated, cost to swing the nets, but built the scoreboard in the second half.
The team had a significant embezzlement for the duel: Vinicius Júnior. The Brazilian was preserved by coach Carlo Ancelotti due to the sequence of games and was not even listed. The attacking trio, therefore, was formed by Rodrygo, Benzema and Asensio.
Even without the star, Real conquered its 19th victory in the spanish league and shortened the distance to the leader of the competition, the Barcelona. Barça’s advantage at the top of the competition is now back to ten points.
The Catalan team, however, can still open three more points over the rival. For that to happen, just beat Getafe this Sunday morning, at 11:15 am (Brasília time).
Far from the national title, Real Madrid returns to the field next Tuesday to face Chelseain London, at 4 pm, for the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League. In the first leg, the Spaniards started in front by 2-0.
How was the game?
The first chance of danger in the match, to everyone’s surprise, came from Cádiz. Uruguayan Espino received it on the left side, invaded the area and crossed it, hitting goalkeeper Courtois’s post. Real Madrid responded in the 15th minute, with a shot by Asensio that ended up in the hands of David Gil.
At 17, it was Benzema’s turn to hit with the outside of his foot and see David Gil make a new save. The Frenchman almost opened the scoring in the 34th minute, after a great individual move by Rodrygo, who left it to the number 9 to kick the crossbar.
Rodrygo was also close to scoring in the 39th minute, after dribbling inside the area and forcing Gil to work again.
On the way back from the break, the Brazilian wasted a good chance when he was face to face with David Gil, but he kicked over the goalkeeper. At 11, Asensio made a beautiful play on the left and rolled to Rodrygo, in the middle, but the attacker sent it outside inside the small area, practically without a goalkeeper.
Real would still arrive with danger in the 12th minute, in a submission by Valverde, and in the 17th minute, in a new shot by Benzema that exploded on the crossbar, before opening the scoring. The first goal came in the 26th minute, in a beautiful low kick by Nacho Fernández, from outside the area, in the corner.
And it didn’t take long for the meringues to increase the advantage. At 29 minutes, Valverde advanced and left it to Asensio, who hit the left corner to score the second.
