Wizz Air was unable to bring home its stranded passengers in Madeira

by time news

Wizz Air’s April 4th Budapest-Funchal flight was unable to land in the capital of Madeira, an island belonging to Portugal and located almost a thousand kilometers from Lisbon in the Atlantic Ocean, due to strong winds. The passengers were taken to Tenerife, and the airline provided them with accommodation and food, but since the stormy wind still did not abate, the next day the airline decided to bring the passengers who requested it back to Budapest. However, passengers stranded in Madeira can only be flown home after the danger has passed, writes a Telex.

Those waiting in Madeira were promised the arrival of the plane that landed a day earlier at Tenerife airport on Wednesday, but the wind did not decrease, so the flight was eventually canceled and the plane returned from the Canary Islands to Budapest. The passengers were informed that they could rebook to another flight or claim the money back, but they have not yet received any further information. Passengers stranded on Madeira do not have an easy job either, because according to the schedule, Wizz Air will only fly to the island on Saturday. Due to the high winds, many airlines continue to cancel their flights to Madeira, even on Wednesday afternoon only one or two planes were able to land at the Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport, so there is not much of an alternative to get home, reports Telex.
