Wizzair Launches Annual Pass for Unlimited International Flights: What’s the Catch?

The low-cost airline Wizzair has today introduced a new product that is likely to be particularly interesting for frequent flyers. The airline is promoting a pass that allows you to fly on all international routes of Wizzair for €499 per year for 12 months. However, a flat fee of €9.99 will still be charged per flight route, and there are naturally a few more catches.

The €499 annual fee is a discounted price for the launch of this offer. This price is only valid for registrations until August 15, 2024. After that, the price for an annual membership will increase to €599.

At first glance, this all sounds very enticing, but there are also important restrictions:

1. You still have to pay a flat fee of €9.99 per flight route.
2. Only one personal item with dimensions of 40x30x20 cm is included.
3. You can book a flight no earlier than 72 hours before departure.
4. There is a limited quota, meaning that even if a seat is free shortly before departure, you may not necessarily be able to book it.
5. No changes or cancellations are possible after booking. If you miss more than 3 flights, your pass may be completely canceled.
6. Combining with other Wizzair offers (e.g., Privilege Pass) is excluded.

The following terms apply to the use of the offer:

• Valid for 12 months on all international Wizzair routes (not on domestic Italian flights)
• Annual fee of €499 (or €599 from August 16, 2024)
• Flights can only be booked starting September 25, 2024; currently, only the annual membership is for sale.
• An additional flat fee of €9.99 will be charged per flight route.
• Bookings are possible no earlier than 3 days before departure.
• Availability depends on several internal and external factors (including the occupancy of the respective flight), so the booking of a specific flight cannot be guaranteed.
• Only one personal item (40x30x20 cm) is included; additional luggage can be booked for an extra charge.
• The booked flights are non-changeable and non-cancellable.
• The offer is limited to 10,000 users.
• Combining with other Wizzair offers (e.g., Privilege Pass) is excluded.

Please note that Wizzair reserves the right to cancel your membership if you miss or do not take three booked flights (No Show). So, you should really only book flights that you are sure you can take.

For a long time, the topic of All you can fly had become very quiet in Europe. With an annual membership for all international routes, Wizzair is making a new attempt. Those who are flexible and can or want to book spontaneously now have the opportunity to fly unlimited on all international routes with Wizzair. However, strictly speaking, one cannot say that it is a real flat rate, as a flat fee of €9.99 is still charged per flight route.

Moreover, the restrictions regarding luggage (only one personal item, further luggage at extra charge) and the booking being possible no earlier than 3 days before departure should be taken into account. Additionally, Wizzair can significantly limit the availability of flights if they wish. However, for those living near an airport where Wizzair offers many routes (e.g., Dortmund or Vienna), there is a chance to put together interesting flight combinations.
