The 17th round of Serie A closed tonight (Monday) with two games, among which Bologna hosted Atalanta, who came with the goal of winning after four consecutive games in which they failed to come away with the three points, and in addition Verona hosted Cremona for a hot bottom battle.
Bologna – Atalanta 2:1
Having dropped points in a draw with bottom side Spezia and losing their three league games before that, Piero Gasparini’s side showed character to overturn an early deficit in less than 10 minutes thanks to Thon Koopmeiners and Rasmus Hoylund. In doing so, the Blues of Bregamo broke the streak of omissions and placed in sixth place in the Serie A table.
When the match began, it seemed that the guest arrived confused. Already in the sixth minute, they fell behind and were unable to get out of it throughout the entire half, but the second half was a completely different scenario. Within two minutes Thon Koopmeiners was able to equalize the result with a great kick from a distance that found the net, and only nine minutes later the task was completed with Hoylund scoring the lead goal which was also determined to be the winning goal at the end.
Verona – Cremona 0:2
From the trash to the depreciation. Verona from the 18th place did beat Cremonese from the last place and managed to leave with the three points, but remained below the line that would lead them to the minor league. Thanks to a pair of goals by Draco Lazovic (9’+26′), and in less than 17 minutes, the striker gave his team the three important points that left them with hope of going above the red line.
The first half was completely under the control of the host, when, as mentioned, the pair of Lazovic’s goals were scored in the first half hour of the match. Although they took their foot off the gas in the second half, the visitors looked better, held the ball more and even had more chances, but to no avail and the double deficit remained until the end.
