For the first time at the Wolfson Medical Center, there will be a groundbreaking research collaboration together with the XOLTAR company which will enable tailored personal support for chemotherapy patients through virtual software based on artificial intelligence.

The software, which was developed by the XOLTAR company and under the guidance of the gynecology-oncology department managed by Prof. Talia Levy, allows the patients to hold, through virtual consultants, video meetings every other day in which they will talk about their mental, emotional and physical state and the side effects after the treatment. The counselors will be available to the patients 24/7 and will communicate between them and the treatment team if necessary.

Dr. Ornit Cohen, Head of the Authority for Research and Innovation at the Wolfson Medical Center: “Cancer is known as a disease that severely affects the mental state of those affected by it, which affects the immune system and the health of the patients. We believe that through a unique escort experience developed by XOLTAR, we can help patients undergoing chemotherapy and make their treatment more effective and reduce some of the emotional burden they have to carry.”

On the occasion of the colon cancer awareness month that was observed during the month of March, the Cancer Society came up with a new campaign made using the artificial intelligence (AI) of Midgerani by Gitam BBDO advertising agency that helps the society on a voluntary basis.

The campaign focuses on a message that encourages the public to access tests for the early diagnosis of colon cancer by looking to the future. The goal is to motivate women and men over the age of 50 to go to the health insurance fund for a free examination once a year. At the same time, raise awareness of the importance of medical examination at any age, in the case of gastrointestinal symptoms that do not go away. The slogan leading the campaign: “Instead of imagining the future, experience it, early detection of colon cancer can save lives.” The campaign will appear on television and digital channels for several weeks.

According to the estimate of the Cancer Society, in 2022 approximately 3,200 women and men will be diagnosed with colon cancer in Israel and approximately 1,300 Israelis will die from the disease. The association emphasizes that colon cancer is common among women and men at a similar rate since it is the second most common cancer among women in Israel after breast cancer and the third most common among men after prostate cancer and lung cancer.
