Chelsea and Manchester United entered the field this Sunday, for the 23rd round of the English Championship. The two giants faced Wolverhampton and West Ham respectively. Playing at home, the London team was beaten by the visitors 4-2 and saw Brazilian Matheus Cunha score three goals. United breezed past their opponents and won the match 3-0.
Chelsea suffered another defeat this season. The team’s goals were scored by Palmer and Thiago Silva. In addition to Matheus Cunha’s three goals, the visiting team’s other goal was from Disasi (own goal).
The defeat further intensifies Chelsea’s terrible phase. 11th place with just 31 points won, the team heads towards another season without qualifying for international competitions. Furthermore, it was the second defeat in a row for the team, which was beaten 4-1 by Liverpool last Wednesday.
On the other hand, the victory put Wolverhampton ahead of Chelsea in the English table. The team now occupies tenth place, with 32 points.

In their next match, the home team will face Aston Villa, in the FA Cup, this Wednesday. The visitors return to the field next Saturday, in a duel with Brentford, in the English Championship.
Chelsea opened the scoring early in the match. In the 19th minute, Palmer received the ball in the penalty area and touched the goalkeeper’s corner to score the team’s first. However, Wolverhampton responded quickly and, three minutes later, Brazilian Matheus Cunha tied the match with a shot that featured a deflection from Thiago Silva. Still in the first half, Chelsea defender Disasi deflected the ball against his own team and scored the visitors’ comeback goal.
Brazilian Matheus Cunha was inspired. In the 18th minute of the second half, the striker received a pass from Pedro Neto and struck first time to score Wolverhampton’s third goal.
And Matheus Cunha, still not satisfied, scored his third goal of the match. In the 37th minute, the Brazilian converted a penalty that he himself conceded and capped off a spectacular performance.
Four minutes later, after a corner kick, Thiago Silva scored against Chelsea. The home team went all out in search of the third goal, but were unable to avoid defeat at home.
United beat West Ham and climb the English table
In the other game of the 23rd round of English, which also started at 11 am (Brasília time), Manchester United defeated West Ham 3-0, at Old Trafford. The home team’s goals were scored by Hojlund and Garnacho (2x).
The victory placed United in sixth place in the competition, with 38 points achieved. The team remains undefeated in 2024 and achieved its second consecutive victory. West Ham was overtaken by its rival in the table and now occupies seventh place, with 36 points.
The home team returns to the field next Sunday, against Aston Villa, in the English side. The visitors face Arsenal, on the same date, also in the Premier League.
