Woman kicked off subway after criticizing same-sex couple

by time news

A video went viral on social networks in which a lady, apparently of a certain age, reacted to the presence of a homosexual couple who were hugging in a subway, precisely on Line 3 – Red, which connects Itaquera to Barra Funda, in São Paulo, on Thursday thursday of the 9th.

At the time, the woman addressed the two male homosexuals in a reprimanding tone. “I am (sic) teaching you. I’m (sic) telling you to stop”, she said, who then recommended the pair to buy a Bible.

“Read the Bible. Buy a Bible and read. I am giving you advice, as if I were a mother,” said the woman. The homosexual couple, in turn, reacted with indignation, telling the lady to take “shame on her face” and calling her “crazy”.

“Who do you think you are to come here and disturb others? You are crazy”, said one of the homosexuals. The person responsible for recording the video testified in favor of the homosexual couple, saying that other passengers also showed dissatisfaction with the woman.

“The boys scolded her for meddling and the lady said she was teaching them about life, that she was giving them advice from a mother. The subway staff interfered in favor of the boys and then, when the subway stopped, one of the boys called security,” said bank clerk Breno Conde, according to UOL.

The woman was then led out of the subway along with the two homosexuals. Everyone went to a police station, but the couple gave up registering a police report against the lady.

wrong approach

Although the rebuke regarding the sin of homosexual practice has biblical foundations, since the Word of God condemns sexual relations between people of the same sex, it can be said that a wrong approach involving gay people must also be condemned.

This is the understanding, for example, of Pastor David Riker, leader of the Ser Ministry, who has already recorded a video to explain the correct way to evangelize homosexuals without ceasing to preach the truth, but also without adopting an offensive and disrespectful posture, as he did the woman on the São Paulo subway.

“You must listen respectfully, however respect must also be directed to the Gospel. Therefore, you do not need to deconstruct the Gospel, pretend that it does not condemn homosexuality as a biblical behavior in order to include someone”, explains the pastor.

Once the truth is told in a loving and welcoming way, considering the unique circumstances of each individual, if there is no agreement on biblical teaching, respect for individual choice must be maintained.

“You can leave the door open and say, ‘You’re welcome, no matter how much you don’t agree with the biblical positions on homosexuality in the church. The doors are open for you, for your partner and for your family’”, argues the pastor.

“This is not connivance, this is not simply accepting sin as normal. But it’s working smart to be able to access that person and make them realize that Christians are there not to judge or to cast into hell,” concludes Riker. Watch:
