A British woman in her 40s is drawing attention by quitting delivery food and losing 38 kg in just 7 months.

British media outlet The Sun reported on the 13th (local time) that Pamela O’Rourke (44), who lives in Glasgow, Scotland, stopped ordering delivery food for 7 months and lost 38 kg.

Pamela said she consumed about 4,500 kcal a day from delivery food. She also spent about 1.07 million won on delivery food every month, a total of 64.64 million won over 5 years. Pamela said she mostly enjoyed instant food like McDonald’s or KFC.

Pamela said that when she stopped eating delivery food, she started losing weight. “Instead of eating instant food, carbonated drinks, and alcohol, I started eating fish, vegetables, and chicken, and I also started walking,” she said. “After seven months, I gained 57 kg.”

The reason Pamela started dieting was because she heard news about a friend from her school days. “My friend who became a soldier had motor neuron disease (a degenerative disease in which the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord that control muscles are damaged),” Pamela said. “I started dieting because I felt ashamed of the way I was living while my friend was fighting for his life.”

Pamela successfully lost weight by giving up delivery food and drinks for 7 months. Pamela weighs 57 kg and has maintained her weight for 3 years since she successfully lost weight.Reporter Jo Yu-kyung, Donga.com, [email protected]
