Kozhikode: The husband’s uncle is in police custody in the case of the woman’s suicide in Vadakara Orkattery. Hanifa, a native of Orkattery, was taken into custody by the police. The police took him into custody after the CCTV footage of Hanifa beating the deceased Shebina came out.
Last Monday, Shebina, a native of Ayancheri, was found dead at her husband Habib’s house in Orkhateri. Shebina’s family found her body hanging from the window wire. Husband’s family called Habib in Gulf and informed that Shebina entered the room and closed the door.
Meanwhile, Shebina’s family also reached the spot. Shebina’s daughter informed that there was a fight in the house in the evening. Following this, Shebina’s family members were checking the CCTV footage. In this, there were scenes of Hanifa beating Shebina in the sitout. Hanifa is the brother of Habib’s mother.
Relatives say that she committed suicide because she could not bear the constant harassment of her mother and sister from her husband’s house. They have clarified this in their complaint to the police. Shebina’s relatives said that her husband’s relatives subjected her to constant mental torture, demanding money to build a house.
It is alleged that she was married with 120 Pawan gold, but now the gold is missing. A case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation has been started after the relatives lodged a complaint with the Edachery police. Meanwhile, Hanifa was caught by the police. He is being interrogated. It is reported that Hanifa’s arrest will be recorded by the police.
It is also alleged that no effort was made to save the life when the door was closed despite the circumstances to commit suicide.
