With the promotion of the rural program forward, the women of Osicala undertake the production of vegetables to generate substantive development for the economic benefit of the Salvadoran rural family.

“This is a very important experience because they took us into account; As women we started from scratch, without experience and without having where to farm, but thank God, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Adelante Rural Program for taking us into account. We take on the challenge. We are proud because we are providing sustainability to food security,” said producer María Gómez, president of the Women’s Communal Association of the Charamo Arriba Caserío (Ascomucha) of Osicala, Morazán.

María and her partners are beneficiaries of the project focused on improving vegetable production under protected conditions to generate sustainable commercial competition. This and other interventions were verified this week by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Óscar Guardado, who was pleased with the establishment of the 300 m2 greenhouse and its irrigation system control booth,

The Adelante Rural Program is comprehensive, because it contemplates the productive and mitigation part of the effects of climate change, as detailed by the general manager of the program, Eduardo Serrato, who added that in Ascomucha the total investment amounts to $43,000 and that in all projects 20% to 25% is allocated for climate change adaptation actions, for which financing is available from the International Fund for Agricultural Development
