Kabul: The Taliban have put up posters in public places in Afghanistan saying, “Women who cover their heads and feet and do not wear the hijab are trying to look like beasts.”
The Taliban, which waged war on the South Asian nation of Afghanistan, seized power in August last year. The Taliban promised that the strict restrictions imposed on women during the 1996-2001 regime would not continue. Yet their oppression continued.
Meanwhile, the Taliban have put up posters all over the city of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan. In it, ‘Hijab, which completely covers from head to toe, must be worn by women when going outside. Women who don’t dress like that try to look like animals. ‘
The posters are pasted in public places, including hotels, businesses and malls. Billboards are also placed on major roads, saying “wearing short, tight, thin clothing is against Taliban policies.”
Commenting on this, Ministry official Abdul Rahman Dayebi said: “These posters are for women who come to public places without covering their face. Men in the home of women who do not respect the order will be ‘suspended’ from government work, he said.
