Palakkad: Women were slapped in the face for theft. The incident took place in Palakkad city. The woman was allegedly assaulted while trying to steal a mobile phone while traveling in the bus. Mathrubhumi News has received footage of two women being beaten in the face.
It is alleged that two women tried to steal a woman’s mobile phone on a bus going to Malampuzha via Puthur from Palakkad city. The mobile phone was found in their bag. They were taken off the bus and assaulted during interrogation.
The woman, who said she had lost her mobile phone, was slapped in the face several times. Later, Palakkad Town North police sent pink police to the spot and took the battered women into custody. The woman, who later lost her mobile phone, clarified that she had no complaint and the two were released by the police without filing a case.
It is reported that the victims are women who regularly commit theft in the area. They are from Pollachi. The police said that they sent the information after collecting their address, but the information given by them was false.
The footage shows women being publicly harassed and anti-women remarks being made by the assembled locals.
