Mumbai: India drew the AFC Women’s Asia Cup football tournament. Iran drew with India. Both teams conceded a goalless draw.
The match was played at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai. Despite dominating the match, the Indian women could not win.
With this, India came second in Group A. Iran is third and Chinese Taipei is fourth. India and Iran got one point each. China, who won the first match, remain top of the points table with three points.
The Indian women have yet to win the Asia Cup. India’s best achievement so far is finishing second in 1979 and 1983. China has won the Women’s Asia Cup the most times since 1975. Japan are the defending champions.
In the next match of Group A, India will face Chinese Taipei. The match will be played on January 23 at 7.30 pm.
