An (almost) remarkable European week. After the superb performances on Wednesday of PSG and Paris FC, winners respectively at Roma (1-3) and Real Madrid (0-1) in the Women’s Champions League, the Lyonnaises ensured their qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition this Thursday in Norway. Sonia Bompastor’s daughters, in fact, obtained a draw from Brann Bergen (2-2).

A little regret though. The Norwegians’ equalizer at the last second of added time cost the assurance of finishing in first place in group B (and facing a 2nd in group in the quarter) before the last two matches. But with a 3-point lead, a single success against Slavia Prague or Saint-Poelten at the end of January will be enough to validate this first place.

However, a fourth success took shape during the first quarter of an hour of the match. After good work from Carpenter, Amel Majri opened the scoring with a 16m shot (0-1, 6th) before Ada Hegerberg made the break on a penalty seven minutes later (0-2, 13th). But the reduction in Kielland’s score (1-2, 34th) then the expulsion of Lindsey Horan (52nd) weakened the Rhodaniennes who therefore conceded the equalizer at the end of added time.
