A third quarter to forget jeopardized Spain’s victory, but Miguel Méndez’s men recovered their best version in the final minutes to end up overwhelming Montenegro (78-57) and continue with all the qualifying options open, despite the defeat of the debut against Latvia.
The selection bet on three starting orangeswith Queralt Casas, Alba Torrens and Raquel Carrera, who formed the quintet together with Maite Cazorla and Laura Gil.
Montenegro surprised at the start with a 0-4 run through Mujovic and Jovanovic, but the talent and experience of Alba Torrens allowed her nerves not to appear and, with two triples, the Mallorcan put Spain ahead (8-6).
