Women’s football: start of the national professional championship D1 and D2 on September 21

Rabat – The steering committee of the National Women’s Football League (LNFF), meeting on Thursday, set September 21 as the start date for the national professional championship of the first (D1) and second (D2) divisions.

Chaired by Khadija Illa, President of the National Women’s Football League (LNFF), the meeting was devoted to discussing several points, including the possibility of registering four players of foreign nationality, with the possibility of registering three of them in the referee sheet during matches of the first and second divisions of the 2024-2025 sports season, reads a press release published on the website of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

The LNFF steering committee has also set September 2 as the date for the draw for the national professional women’s football championship and the national U17 championship (2024-2025 season) as well as the qualifiers for the 2023-2024 Throne Cup.

According to the same source, the first round of the Throne Cup qualifiers will take place on October 26, adding that the LNFF steering committee discussed the general provisions for organizing the national senior women’s football championship and the national U17 championship.

These provisions concern, among other things, the holding of general meetings of D1 and D2 clubs before August 31, 2024, the validation of the distribution of clubs competing in the D2 national professional championship (north and south groups) and in the U17 championship in addition to the reduction of the maximum number of qualified players to 23 players instead of 25.
