The 3rd Pro Hockey League for Women is taking place in various countries. Each team must face the other team 2 times. The Indian team wrestled with Germany in a league match yesterday in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The thrilling match ended in a 1-1 draw at regular time.
Felicia Witherman of Germany scored in the 29th minute and Nisha in the 40th minute for India. In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, India converted their first three chances into goals.
Indian goalkeeper Savita smashed all the opponents’ penalty chances. In the end, India defeated Germany 3-0. Earlier in the first league between the two teams, Germany had won a similar penalty shootout. India has now retaliated.
India are second in the series with 12 points from 6 matches with 4 wins and 2 losses. India will face England in their next match on April 2 and 3 at the same venue.
