Colombo: India won the first match of the T20 series against Sri Lanka by 34 runs. India won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 138 for six. Sri Lanka were 104 for five in 20 overs. Radha Yadav took two wickets for Sri Lanka. India 138-6 in 20 overs, Sri Lanka 104-5 in 20 overs.

No. 4 Kavisha Dilhari (47 * off 49 balls) struggled but could not find the back of the net. With the loss of Nilakshi D’Silva (8) and Ama Kanchana (11), Sri Lanka lost 86-5. For India, Radha Yadav took two wickets while Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar and Shafali Verma took one wicket each.
India won the toss and elected to bat first. Smriti Manthana (1) and Shabineni Mekhna (0) returned to the dressing room after scoring 17 runs on the scoreboard. Opener Shefali Verma (31) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (22) were the main contributors to India’s improvement. Later, Jemima Rodriguez (36 off 27 balls), Richa Ghosh (11), Pooja Vastrakar (14) and Deepti Sharma (17 off 8 balls) put on 138 for the second wicket.
Inoka Ranveera took three wickets and Oshadi Ranasinghe two for Sri Lanka. The second match of the three-match series will be played on Saturday.
