Owls Prepare for North Texas Challenge
Rice will first travel to McKinney, Texas, to compete against North Texas at The Courts McKinney Pickleball and Tennis Center, beginning at 1 p.m. CT on Friday. Historically, the Rice Owls have dominated the series against the North Texas Mean Green, leading 14-5. Their last meeting on March 29, 2024, resulted in a 4-2 victory for Rice. However, the match location has been altered due to inclement weather, moving the competition to an indoor facility. Unfortunately, live stats and video coverage will not be available during the match.
Seeking First Win Against TCU Since 2019
Following the match against North Texas, Rice will head to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on the TCU Horned Frogs at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center & Bartzen Varsity Courts on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT. The series history favors TCU, with the Horned Frogs leading 30-13. Their most recent encounter on February 1, 2025, saw TCU emerge victorious with a 4-2 score.
The Owls are aiming to break a losing streak against TCU, having last secured a win in 2019 with a decisive 6-0 victory. Securing a win against TCU would be a significant boost for the team’s confidence and momentum.
“The team is prepared for a tough weekend,” a senior official stated. “We’re focused on executing our game plan and competing at our highest level.”
The Rice women’s tennis team is determined to make a strong showing against both North Texas and TCU, building on their established program and striving for success in the upcoming season.
