An entirely new meaning to the term “fortune cookie”: A North Carolina resident won the lottery thanks to his dessert at a Chinese restaurant.
Gabriel Piero, 60, went out to a Chinese restaurant with his wife, where he received a fortune cookie as a dessert. Inside the dessert were numbers, which Piero filled out in a lottery form, which is no less than $ 4 million.
“I don’t usually use the numbers I got in a fortune cookie, but I tried it this time,” Piero said. “I got an email that I won the lottery and I was in the market. I showed it to my wife and she thought I was working on it. “
After taxes, Piero received a net amount of $ 2.8 million.
This is not the first time someone has won the lottery thanks to numbers that appeared in a fortune cookie. In 2014, Adam won a $ 2 million prize after filling in numbers that appeared on the fortune cookies. In 2005 no less than 110 people each won $ 100,000 following numbers that appeared on their lucky cookies, which were made in the same place.
