Woods and his wife will participate in the PNC Championship on the 22nd
‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods gave a thumbs up to his son Charlie Woods’ rapid growth.
In an interview with the PGA Tour on the 21st (Korean time), Woods said, “My son beat me in a 9-hole match,” and “He hasn’t beaten me in 18 holes yet, but that day will come when he (beats me).”
Woods and his wife will participate in the PNC Championship (total prize money of $1,085,000), a PGA Tour Champions event held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club (par 72) in Orlando, Florida, USA for two days starting on the 22nd.
Although it is an event competition, fans’ attention is focused on Woods and his wife, who are participating in this competition for the fifth consecutive year.
“I think Charlie is doing well right now,” said Woods, who is looking to create another memory with his son. “Everyone has a cell phone and uses media. We live in an era where things are constantly being filmed and people are watching. “Charlie, who is part of this generation, has to get over it,” he said.
“I try to do the best I can as a parent,” he said. “I will always be there for Charlie,” he said, adding, “But I hope that he will live his own life later on.”
Woods was satisfied that Charlie has become more mature this year. Woods, who said, “Charlie has grown a lot more than last year,” added, “He is about 8 to 10 cm taller. And I got stronger and faster. “It’s a typical teenager,” he said.
Woods, who underwent back surgery last September, did not participate in the Hero World Challenge, a tournament hosted by him, which ended on the 9th of this month.
However, by confirming his participation in this tournament, he will pick up a golf club for the first time in five months since the Open last July.
“I’m not competitive right now, but I just hope I can experience it again,” Woods said. “I’ve had a hard time with my back this year, but it’s gotten a lot better. “But there is still a long way to go.”
