Nintendo Switch Holiday Game Deals at Woot
Note: Woot recently made a change to its Nintendo Switch game listings. The retailer no longer discloses if you’re receiving a North American release or an imported game. All Nintendo Switch games are region-free, and every game in the list is playable in English. This is important to consider for games with downloadable content (DLC), such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. If you do not receive a North American version and want the DLC, you will need to purchase that content from the eShop corresponding to your game. For exmaple, if you receive a UK game, you must download DLC from the UK eShop, requiring a separate Nintendo account. While not many games in the list have DLC, this is worth noting.
A trio of Mario platformers has received significant discounts: Super Mario Odyssey and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe are both $40, while Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is $42. Currently, Super Mario Party Jamboree is sold out at Woot, but you can find the other two entries for Switch, Super Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars, for $40 each. The recently released Mario & Luigi: Brothership is available for $50, and the rarely discounted Paper Mario: The Origami King is $42. Additionally, mario Golf: Super Rush is priced at $40 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at $38.
Eight Pokémon games are currently on sale, including three pairs of mainline entries: Scarlet and Violet for $42 each, Sword ($42) and Shield ($40), and Let’s Go, Eevee ($40) and Pikachu ($42). The Let’s Go games are remakes of Pokémon Yellow, featuring streamlined mechanics inspired by Pokémon Go. You can also snag Pokémon legends: Arceus for $45 ahead of the release of its sequel, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, next year. Additionally, the remake of the first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game is on sale at $42; this title is a great option for younger players who may not yet prefer turn-based Pokémon games.
Several other rarely discounted Switch games are available at attractive prices. The acclaimed action-platformer Metroid Dread is $42, bayonetta 3 is priced at $30, and the physical edition of the first Bayonetta game is now $35. The Dragon Quest I-III collection, featuring the first three mainline games, is available for $42. This collection was onyl released in Asia, but it is indeed playable in English. It includes the enhanced versions available on mobile and PC, rather than the new HD-2D Remake of dragon Quest 3.
Bethesda’s new Doom Anthology, which includes six games,a steelbook case, and a five-inch replica of the iconic BFG gun,is now discounted to $55 (was $80). Moreover, Skyrim for Switch is available for $45. Although this is relatively pricey for Skyrim in 2024, the Switch port doesn’t go on sale often.
Super Mario Gift Idea
If you’re shopping for a Super mario fan, an exciting gift is available from Walmart. The retailer has restocked the Collectible Steelbook version of The super Mario Bros. Movie on 4K Blu-ray for only $28. This edition launched in june 2023 and, despite a few brief restocks, had been sold out since then. Walmart is also taking preorders for an exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook of the Mario Movie on 4K Blu-ray for $28. This upcoming edition features a Question Block steelbook case, while the original showcased a Super Mushroom. Walmart’s exclusive version releases on March 4, but the original is available for immediate shipping.
– What are some of the best Nintendo switch games to look out for during holiday deals?
Interview between time.news Editor and Gaming Expert
Time.news Editor (TNE): Welcome, everyone, to today’s special segment! I’m thrilled to have with us gaming expert and Nintendo enthusiast, Chris Thompson. Chris, thank you so much for joining us!
Chris Thompson (CT): Thanks for having me! It’s great to be here and talk about all things Nintendo, especially with the holiday season fast approaching.
TNE: Absolutely! Speaking of the holiday season, ther’s been quite a buzz about the current deals on Nintendo Switch games at Woot. Can you share your thoughts on what’s happening in that space?
CT: Definitely! Woot, which is owned by Amazon, has been ramping up their selection of nintendo Switch games substantially. As of December 8, they’ve got a fantastic array of titles available, all set to arrive just in time for Christmas. It’s an exciting opportunity for fans to snag some heavily discounted games.
TNE: That sounds amazing! I heard that most of these games are exclusives published by Nintendo. Is there any specific title that you think stands out this season?
CT: Oh, absolutely! There are over 45 game deals, and you’ll definitely want to check out the nine titles featuring mario. But beyond that, classics like The Legend of Zelda series, along with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and the recent Metroid Dread, are also featured. The discounts often exceed $20, which is a great incentive for gamers.
TNE: It seems like a treasure trove for Nintendo fans. However, I also read a note regarding Woot’s recent change to their listings. Can you clarify that for our readers?
CT: Yes, that’s an important aspect! Woot has stopped disclosing whether you’re getting a North American release or an imported version of the games. While all Nintendo Switch games are region-free and playable in English, this could be crucial for gamers who want downloadable content (DLC). If you recieve an imported game and want the DLC, you’d need to access the eShop specific to that region, and that requires setting up a separate Nintendo account.
TNE: That’s a critical detail for gamers to consider. With the potential complexities of acquiring DLC, do you think these deals are still worth it?
CT: Absolutely! Many titles on Woot don’t require additional DLC, and even if a few do, the savings you achieve by purchasing the game at a discount could outweigh the hassle of managing a separate eShop account. plus, the selection includes some of the most beloved franchises that are hard to find for such low prices elsewhere.
TNE: Great advice! now, for those who might potentially be on the fence about a Nintendo Switch purchase or looking to expand their library, what would you suggest?
CT: If you’re a newcomer, the Switch is a fantastic console with a range of family-friendly games. For long-time fans, this is the perfect time to add classics or those big titles you may have missed. With deals like these, it’s a no-brainer to dive into the vibrant world of Nintendo. Just be mindful of the release region for the best experience!
TNE: Thank you,Chris, for your insights! It sounds like Woot is a go-to destination for Nintendo Switch deals this holiday season. Any closing thoughts?
CT: Just to remind everyone to keep an eye on the selection before they sell out! Enjoy the gaming, and happy holidays!
TNE: Thank you again, Chris! And to our readers, make sure to check out Woot for those great Nintendo Switch game deals. Happy gaming!
