The work that has begun was contracted by the Port Authority of Vigo, after the agreement reached by the three institutions promoting this logistics platform: the Xunta de Galicia, the Port Authority of Vigo and the Zona Franca Consortium. These works have an investment of 33.4 million euros, of which 8.1 million come from European funds, from the first call for subsidies from the Sustainable and Digital Transport Support Program.
The award for the construction of this siding fell to the consortium formed by Civis Global and Comsa in September 2023 (see news), with an execution period of twenty-two months. The infrastructure will allow all companies located in the industrial area to have the option to use the railway for the supply of raw materials, components and the subsequent distribution of the products, facilitating the availability of shuttle trains from the port of Vigo.
The railway siding will be prepared for the traffic of train compositions of up to 750 meters in length and will have a connection with the General Interest Railway Network, line 810 Ourense-Vigo. In addition, there will be a 105,000 square meter storage loading bay. At the inauguration ceremony of the works, the Xunta de Galicia also announced that in November the expansion of Plisan’s business area will be approved.
